Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
My experience of playing with horses has taught me that all emotions have a place and that by attending to what we need in the moment, we free the other to do the same. Happy healthy horses do not hold onto their tension, but support each other to release and let go, inviting us towards greater intimacy whilst reminding us to set and to respect boundaries. Whether it’s by tuning into their ability to sense each other and the natural world or by requiring us to tap into our own inner strength and vulnerability horses can help us to expand, and to grow, to find inner strength, to self regulate, and to love. By allowing ourselves to ‘just be’ with horses we are also entering into their natural environment, stepping out of our suburban or city lives and experiencing the weather, the horses’ companions or broader horizons, we can again connect to the web of life.
